While at Young Living’s Lavender Farms I enjoyed a class on our seed to seal process. During this class they had Dr. Hassan share about Frankincense. His grandfather has the partnership for the fields Young Living uses in Somalia where we harvest our Frankincense. What is so awesome is that he shared some of this frankincense resin with ME! (see pic below) They chew on it like chewing gum, so the healing and life preserving properties of frankincense are absorbed through their gums. His grandfather is 119 years old…119!!! How amazing is that?
In Somalia, Frankincense resin is how they measure wealth. 1 kilo of frankincense resin = 1 million dollars! The picture below is a slide from the presentation, but I thought it was neat to see the resin “leaking” and being harvested from the trees.
In this picture is Dr. Hassan Saleh Hassan, a bottle of frankincense, and me! Now, guess how old he is! I was way off by my guess. Post your guesses in the comments, whoever is the closest I will send a small package of samples. Post your guesses by July 6th!
And here I am lounging in the lavender field for a nap…

While at convention on the first day I walked 16,637 steps, about 7.2 miles (thanks to my walking mate app) in FLIP-FLOPS! I don’t know what I was thinking, but my feet were killing me! When I put them up it felt like they were vibrating with the reverberation of the pounding of my feet on the concrete. Oh it was SO painful I wondered how I would ever get to sleep, even though I was exhausted!
Well, my new friend and roommate for the week had whipped up some pain cream for her convention trip and she offered to share with me! I wasn’t sure how much it would help, but within a half hour my pain had subsided enough for me to go to sleep! I used this cream on my feet almost every evening and it was a life saver! (Thank you Connie)
I will be whipping up some of this for our home VERY soon. No more IcyHot or other synthetic pain creams…time for an all natural choice! I have been transforming our home one unnatural product at a time, and these oils have truly changed our lives.
I just had to share with you how AWESOME it was to see my son’s face heal nearly completely in 8 days with NO SCAR!
He was hanging out at his grandparents house and decided to face plant outside the sliding glass door onto the concrete. It left a scrape from his nose, under his eye, all the way to his eyebrow! I had grandma put lavender essential oil on it right away. I then put lavender on it 1 or 2 times a day, and each day I was just amazed at how fast it was healing.
Lavender worked great for K’s face because it promotes healing and prevents scar tissue from forming.
Here are some great things to know about Lavender… it is the most versatile of all essential oils. It has been prized historically for many uses on the skin, but it is also famous for its relaxing and mood elevating effects. It can be used to cleanse cuts, bruises, and skin irritations. The fragrance is calming, relaxing and balancing both physically and emotionally. It is also great for allergies because it is a natural antihistamine. Lavender is grown and distilled at the Young Living Farms in the U.S. and France. (I’ll actually be visiting the Lavender Farm in Utah on Friday!–expect a post 😉 )
If you want to get started using essential oils, I would be happy to help you begin your oil journey! Just comment or message me and we will get you started!!!
Every night I lay in bed and I spend at least an hour trying to fall asleep. I’m usually praying, thinking, wondering, planning…well, you name it! It is SO hard for my mind to shut down every night. (Even though my husband is able to fall asleep in 3.4 seconds! 😉 )
I have tried a few different oils…Lavender helps a little bit, and I tried RutaVala roll-on and couldn’t stand the smell! I found that Peace and Calming did a much better job for me. BUT…I still couldn’t fall asleep very easily. I decided to give Cedarwood a try because I had heard that it could help you focus, so I thought…why not try to focus on falling asleep faster? I used it for a week or so, and thought it might be working, but I wasn’t really sure.
The other night I was EXTREMELY tired! I had worked out at the gym first thing in the morning, then I just kept going and going, doing all kinds of chores around my house and getting things ready to celebrate Father’s Day with my dad. (I had put on some En-er-gee, and boy did I have some!) So by the time I got into bed I realized the Cedarwood was all the way in the kitchen and I didn’t want to walk across the house to go get it.
Even though I had applied Peace and Calming, I just couldn’t fall asleep! And I was TIRED! Finally about midnight I decided to go get my Cedarwood and WHALAH! Sleep came minutes later.
Everyday these oils amaze me how they work so splendidly with my body!
