How I Take Care of My Skin

This is me, taking a quick picture with my favorite product after a great TRX workout!

Have you heard?  Young Living has great products for your face called the ART Skin Care System.  ART stands for ‘Age Refining Technology’.  I have used lots of different skin care products, and have never been fully satisfied with how they work with my skin…until now!  These products are simply amazing!

The best word to describe the difference in my skin from using the ART Skin Care System is that it feels more supple, like it’s hydrated from within.  The ART products are formulated with plant-based ingredients and essential oils.  I love that we have access to such effective, luxurious, NATURAL skincare without the harmful ingredients found in nearly all other skin care systems!

#13

These products look, feel, and smell very luxurious!  I love the hint of sandalwood aroma you can smell when you’re using these.  The Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood oil is one of my most coveted oils, and it is in these products!  Plus it is great for my skin.  The ART Skin Care line also has a few other essential oils in it, like Frankincense, Lavender, and Melissa.  Let me tell you a little bit about each product…

Gentle Cleanser

This foaming cleanser is formulated to cleanse the skin without stripping any of our natural oils.  It is great for my skin because it doesn’t dry it out like some other cleansers have in the past.  I will say that it does a great job taking off my makeup, but not my eye makeup (I don’t use waterproof eye makeup, but I am able to simply use a few drops of sweet almond oil on a cotton ball to remove it).  One pump of cleanser is sufficient to cleanse my face, and I really love using it in the morning to help wake me up and get me going.

Refreshing Toner

I love this toner!  Partly because it smells so good, but also because my skin feels so incredibly clean after using it.  The toner will remove any residual impurities without drying the skin.  I use this only at night, because I noticed that my skin didn’t need it twice a day.

Light Moisturizer

This moisturizer is so lovely!!  I use it both at night and in the morning.  It absorbs into my skin easily, so I can wear it under makeup without getting oily or shiny.  This moisturizer also contains essential oils and natural ingredients to leave my face feeling soft and supple!!

I’m loving the ART Skin Care System and feel like it has truly changed the skin on my face for the better.  Have you tried it?  What do you think?!

Hair Makeover!

Yesterday was cold and snowy, so we were looking for something to do while cooped up in the house!  My daughter loves doing “girly” things, so we decided to try a recipe for a hair mask using Young Living Oils.  She is growing her hair out, and the ends were getting a little brittle, so I was hoping it would help.  We had a lot of fun, and she loved doing Mommy’s hair!

Hair Mask

We worked in each oil, 5 drops at a time and let me tell you…we smelled A-MAZ-ING!  Then we worked in the coconut oil.  We were oily messes, so I twisted our hair up in buns.  (top pic)  After 90 minutes (you can do 20-90, whatever you have time for) we rinsed our hair with warm water, then washed it with Young Living’s Lavender-Mint shampoo and conditioner.

My daughter’s hair turned out incredibly soft and beautiful!  It was amazing!  We don’t use any products on her hair, so I think that’s why hers came out better than mine.  For me, my ends appear to be repaired, and my hair is very soft and smooth.  I blow dry and flat iron my hair about every other day, so my ends were awful before.  There also was far less frizz than normal.  I am very impressed!

What a wonderful way for us to spend time together and do something fun!

No More Oily Hair…

Shortly after getting pregnant with our third child in 2012, something shifted in my body and all of a sudden I had oily hair.  I have never dealt with oily hair in my life, if anything it was sometimes dry, but never oily.  I switched shampoo at first, but that really didn’t do anything.  I tried a more expensive shampoo from one of the beauty supply stores, and that helped some, but not for very long.  I mean I could shower, wash my hair, blow dry it, and it would be oily all over again.  I would let it dry naturally, and again…OILY!

I finally turned to Google shortly after having our son summer 2013 because I was getting really frustrated and thought I could search out a solution.  After some research and lots of reading of other people’s blogs, I decided to give the baking soda and apple cider vinegar trick a try.  It was interesting…some days!  I would scrub my scalp with baking soda, rinse with water, soak the ends of my hair in Apple cider vinegar, then cover all my hair in apple cider vinegar and let it sit for a minute or two. (Yes this was VERY stinky) Then I would rinse it all out.  Some days my results were amazing!  My hair would be so soft and look so nice, clean, and shiny.  But most often the baking soda would dry my hair out and leave it brittle from not getting it all rinsed out.  Some days it would look oily and dirty like before.  It was VERY frustrating!

Then one day I saw this image…YL lavender mint shampoo

I decided maybe I better give this lavender mint shampoo a try because I’ve tried everything else!  I have been using the Young Living Lavender Mint Shampoo and Conditioner for 3 months, and I am VERY happy with the results.  My hair is so much healthier and no more oily head!  Plus I don’t have any split ends.  I used to have lots and lots of split ends from all the blow drying and flat iron use, but now NONE!  I can’t remember when my hair has ever been so healthy.

Lavender mint shampoo

The shampoo and conditioner contain lavender, peppermint, and spearmint essential oils.  It can be used for all hair types and helps repair damaged hair.  It comfortably stimulates the scalp and is very refreshing.
